ThriftyFeds.com is a work in progress! Right now, the site is still being built, but over time, I hope you’ll find the information here valuable in maximizing your Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Roth IRAs, and other investment options to help you build long-term wealth. In time, ThriftyFeds.com will feature helpful tools like financial calculators, spreadsheet templates, and other resources to make managing your finances easier. Thanks for stopping by—stick around as I continue to build out this site!
Calculators
The first two calculators should be used together to get a ballpark picture of your retirement income.
FERS Annuity & Supplement Estimator (Step 1)
This calculator provides a quick estimate of your FERS paycheck, including your FERS Annuity, Retirement Annuity Supplement, and any survivor benefit reductions you might select. It works for both traditional FERS and special category employees, giving you a solid starting point for retirement planning.
FERS & TSP: What Will My Paycheck Feel Like? (Step 2)
Once you’ve calculated your estimated monthly FERS Annuity & Supplement (or retrieved it from your agency), use this tool to see how your retirement income compares to your current salary. The FERS & TSP: What Will My Paycheck Feel Like? calculator factors in deductions you’ll no longer pay, your FERS income, and your TSP withdrawal strategy. This gives you a clearer picture of how your retirement income will “feel” compared to your current paycheck. This also assumes you will no longer be working.

This calculator helps you figure out how to make those debt-free dreams a reality.
Compound Interest Calculator
Want to see your money grow while you sit back and sip coffee? This tool shows how the magic of compounding turns small contributions into big results.
Sick Leave Service Credit Analyzer (beta)
This tool estimates how your unused sick leave converts into service credit and increases your total years and months of federal service. It also shows any leftover hours that won’t count toward your creditable service, helping you understand the full impact of your sick leave on retirement.
